My name is Bryan Somers. I am a local attorney and candidate for District Court Judge in Vernon Parish. I have spent my life in service to others. I joined the Army at 18 years old and by age 20 the army had stationed me at Fort Polk were I like to joke the army issued me a wife and 4 daughters! As a soldier, I deployed to war zones and fought the good fight overseas for our country. And after leaving active duty, I joined the Leesville Police Department and spent roughly 6 years as a Police Officer where I served the people of Vernon Parish with my loyal K9 partner, Marco. During this time as a Leesville Police Officer, I took night classes towards my degree and I graduated with a Bachelors in Science Degree in Public Administration with a Law Enforcement Emphasis. After leaving law enforcement, I attended LSU Law School to continue my journey in service to others. I continued my military service after leaving active duty by serving in the Army Reserves and in 2023, I retired from the army as a counterintelligence special agent. I am a combat veteran. I am a true patriot who has given back to our country and community. I am a christian and I support doing what may not be popular, but doing what is right - always.
For the last 25 years, Vernon Parish has been my home. I chose to raise my 4 children in Vernon Parish and send them to Vernon Parish schools. I have spent years coaching our kids on ballfields around Vernon Parish, watching our kids play ball around the state, and donated thousands of dollars to our local schools to ensure our kids had the funds to purchase the items needed to play their best game. Since opening my law office in Leesville, I have built a solid reputation as a fair, honest, and competent attorney that succeeds in the courtroom and as a result I have a thriving law practice primarily from word of mouth referrrals. I treat people like I wish to be treated – on the street and in the courtroom. I have given my support to Vernon Parish for the last 25 years and I humbly ask Vernon Parish to give their support to me on November 3rd and Vote BRYAN SOMERS, #66 for District Court Judge.
I will work towards respecting the time of those who are in the courtroom and create a method of expediting the time individuals spend waiting for the court to proceed with their matter.
We need to get those involved in addiction in a proven drug and alcohol treatment program. I have worked closely with and supported Crossties and Set Fee - Inside Out - both are faith based programs to assist those with addiction issues not just battle the addiction but the mindset that continues the addiction cycle. These programs have proven to be powerful and effective in our community.
Solider's see and do the things most average citizens could never do. These soldiers are human however, they have to process and deal with the things they see around the world then come back to society and function as if they are robots. They deserve compassion in the courtroom and if their issue is the result of military service, they need assistance, not necessarily jail.
